Non-destructive testing is a detection method to check the surface and internal quality of the inspected part without destroying the working state of the workpiece or raw materials, and is a common method to ensure the steel structure engineering. Because of the different components, the use of non-destructive testing methods are also different. Let’s take a look at the following introduction.
Ultrasonic inspection: The use of ultrasonic energy to penetrate the depth of metal materials, from one section into another section, the characteristics of reflection at the edge of the interface, a method to check the defects of parts. When the ultrasonic beam is transmitted from the probe from the surface of the part to the inside of the metal, the defects and the bottom surface of the part produce reflected waves respectively, forming a pulse waveform on the fluorescent screen. Based on these pulse waveforms, the location and size of the defect can be judged.
X-ray inspection (X-ray, gamma rays): A method of inspection that uses rays to penetrate the internal objects of steel structure engineering to find internal defects of the objects.
Magnetic particle inspection: is a detection method used to detect surface and near-surface defects of ferromagnetic materials. When the workpiece is magnetized, if there is a defect on the surface of the workpiece, magnetic leakage will be generated due to the increase of magnetoresistance at the defect, forming a local magnetic field, and the magnetic powder will show the shape and position of the defect here, so as to determine the existence of the defect.
You can roughly understand the various non-destructive testing methods commonly used in this kind of steel structure engineering from the above explanation, which has a good application effect in detecting engineering quality. The application of this method can not only ensure the progress of the project, but also improve the quality of the steel structure project.
