What is the Steel Space Frame?

The steel frame is one of the forms of steel structure, most of which is made of steel pipe and spherical nodes. The steel space frame is generally divided into the following four categories of plane trussed lattice grids, tetrahedral, triangular, and hexagonal cones.

The advantages and characteristics of the steel space frame are the following:

1. A simple and convenient way to transmit force, suitable for large span, column-free space frame roof structure.
2. Light steel structure and cheap price. Compared with the plain steel roof frame of equal span, when the span is less than 30m, it can save 5%-10% steel use; when the span is over 30m, it can save 10%-20%.
3. Great spatial stiffness, low structural dead weight and good anti-seismic function.
4. Simple construction and installation. There are a few types of space frame poles and nodes. Transportation, storage, loading and unloading, assembly are all convenient.
5. The plane arrangement of the space frame is flexible, and the roof system is flat, which is conducive to the installation of ceiling, pipeline and equipment.
