Three-layer steel space frame is the pioneering and development of double-layer steel space frame, and also the orderly combination of double-layer steel space frame.
The three-layered net frame consists of upper chord, middle chord, lower chord, upper web bar, lower web bar and side trusses and perimeter closure trusses, totally has six parts.
The fringe trusses are sometimes not needed in a two-story steel space frame, but are often a very useful component in a three-story steel space frame structure (especially when supported at the lower chord level). The fringe trusses play an important role in reducing the internal force of the steel frame members, improving the vertical stiffness, ensuring the geometric invariance of the space frame and increasing the overall stability of it.
Generally speaking, the upper chord rod in the three-layer space frame mainly bears pressure, the lower chord rod mainly bears tension, and the web rod mainly transmits the chord rod often arranged near the neutral surface of the structure, so the middle chord layer chord rod of the three-layer space frame is usually configured according to the structure, and some three-layer space frames can omit the middle chord rod without structural geometry change, but the middle chord rod can strengthen the lateral stiffness of the space frame and increase the overall stability of the space frame.
