The cone head is an accessory used in the bolt ball steel space frame structure.Cone head are welded on the top of the steel pipe, and the high-strength bolt’s threaded rod is screwed into the bolt ball through the round hole at the bottom. The screw is inside the cone head, which has the same function as the “blanking plate”. When the diameter of the steel pipe is small, the “blanking plate” is used. When the diameter of the steel pipe is large, in order to prevent the collision between the steel pipes on the same bolt ball, the “cone head” is used.
The edge weld between the two sides of the steel pipe and the cone head is a connection weld, and it is required to be as strong as the butt weld. Space frame bolt ball processing is very easy. Just weld the spare anchor bolts, blanking plate/cone head and rods together. Then, the finished bolt balls are produced and processed according to the bolt ball processing drawing, and then sprayed and packaged. The cone head of the space frame is made of round steel. The cone head before forging should not have defects such as burning and cracks. After forging, the quenching process is carried out to remove the oxide scale.
